Emmy 2016: Tutte le nomination della 68esima edizione

Dopo quattro stagioni, The Americans entra finalmente nel grande gioco dei Primetime Emmy Awards. La nomination dello spy drama di FX, e dei suoi protagonisti Keri Russell e Matthew Rhys, sono la sorpresa più piacevole nella corsa alla 68esima edizione del prestigioso premio dell'Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, mentre c'erano pochi dubbi circa il successo, almeno in questa prima fase, del drama fantasy e migliore serie drammatica in carica Il Trono di Spade, del crime drama antologico splendidamente scritto American Crime Story: Il caso O.J. Simpson e dell'altro crime drama antologico di FX Fargo, che portano a casa rispettivamente 23, 22 e 18 nomination. Prevedibili e molto gradite anche le candidature di Mr. Robot. La serie fenomeno della scorsa stagione, tornata in tv con i nuovi episodi proprio nelle ultime ore, gareggerà contro colossi come Homeland, House of Cards e l'ultima stagione di Downton Abbey per la statuetta di migliore serie drammatica, mentre Rami Malek si candida al titolo di migliore attore in un drama. Segnaliamo inoltre la nomination di Sam Esmail per la sceneggiatura del primo episodio.

Una Acamedy sempre più attenta al nuovo e al suo linguaggio innovatore riconosce (solo in parte) la qualità di UnREAL, il drama di Lifetime già osannato dalla critica, con le nomination di Constance Zimmer come migliore attrice non protagonista in un drama e Marti Noxon (insieme con Sarah Gertrude Shapiro) per la sceneggiatura di un drama; e Masters of None di Aziz Ansari, che per le sue prime nomination si ritrova a gareggiare come attore, regista e sceneggiatore, nonché per la migliore comedy. Modern Family quasi cede il passo alla black-comedy rivelazione Black-ish dopo la sola nomination di Anthony Anderson lo scorso anno, mentre Tatiana Maslany di Orphan Black ci riproverà dopo il trionfo di Viola Davis per Le regole del delitto perfetto (nominata anche quest'anno) nella sua categoria. Veep, un'altra serie di HBO (la rete via cavo si riconferma leader con 94 nomination, in calo rispetto allo scorso anno contrariamente a FX e Netflix), supera la prova del nove. Nonostante l'addio del co-ideatore Armando Iannucci, la comedy conquista 16 nomination (contro le 9 dello scorso anno), inclusa miglior serie e migliore attrice con Julia Louis-Dreyfus (premiata per quattro anni consecutivi).

Ovviamente non mancano le delusioni. The Leftovers, la sua straordinaria seconda stagione e il suo cast ancora più eccezionale restano fuori da tutte le categorie drammatiche. Penny Dreadful deve "accontentarsi" di sei nomination nelle categorie tecniche. L'Academy dimentica inoltre la comedy You're the Worst e il drama Bates Motel, nonché le serie di The CW Jane the Virgin e Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Per quest'ultima in particolare, spiace per la mancata nomination di Rachel Bloom. Tra i grandi assenti nelle categorie principali anche Orange Is the New Black.
