Critics Choice Awards 2025: Premiate Shogun, The Penguin e Nobody Wants This

Dopo due rinvii a causa degli incendi di Los Angeles, all'inizio del weekend si sono celebrati in città i 30esimi Critics Choice Awards, importante riconoscimento assegnato annualmente dalla critica statunitense. Come da previsione, a portare a casa il maggior numero di statuette è stato l'acclamato drama storico di FX Shōgun, che arrivato alla serata con il maggior numero di nomination per una Serie TV, sei, ha visto quattro di queste tramutarsi in premio: miglior drama, miglior attore in un drama per Hiroyuki Sanada e miglior attore e miglior attrice non protagonista in un drama per Tadanobu Asano e Moeka Hoshi. Il trionfo assoluto di Shōgun è stato precluso unicamente dal nuovo legal drama di CBS Matlock e, in particolare, dalla sua protagonista Kathy Bates, premiata con sua grande sorpresa come miglior attrice in un drama, contro la favoritissima Anna Sawai.

In sala stampa, Bates ha detto: "È un grande risultato per me. Quando abbiamo realizzato il nostro pilota, ho ricevuto un'email da Amy Reisenbach, che è il capo della rete, e sono andata a cercarla perché non sapevo davvero chi fosse, e ho visto una sua foto... accanto a un titolo che diceva 'La tv broadcast non è morta'. Questo è un premio per la rete, per aver colto l'opportunità di creare una serie così meravigliosa". E i numeri, così come questo premio, danno sicuramente ragione a entrambe.

Tra i premiati dell'edizione 2025 dei Critics Choice Awards anche Hacks di Max e la sua protagonista, Jean Smart, come miglior comedy e miglior attrice in una comedy, oltre a Hannah Einbinder come miglior attrice non protagonista. Anche in questo caso nulla di inaspettato, con Smart premiata già per ciascuna delle stagioni passate. Meno scontate ma sicuramente meritate le vittorie di Adam Brody per il suo ruolo nella commedia romantica di Netflix Nobody Wants This, di Cristin Milioti nella miniserie di HBO The Penguin, per la quale è stato premiato anche Colin Farrell, e di Michael Urie per la comedy di Apple TV+ Shrinking. Il premio di miglior miniserie è andato ovviamente al fenomeno di Netflix Baby Reindeer. Nulla di fatto, invece, per entrambe le produzioni italiane candidate come miglior serie in lingua straniera, L'amica geniale e La legge di Lidia Poët.
